The number of pages mentioned on the main page uses the "Magic Word" {{NUMBEROFARTICLES}}. This function usually only counts the pages which have at least one internal wikilink. As a test I made a temporary change to wepụ, turning the header "Nkọwa" into a wikilink to Nkọwa. This temporarily increased the total on the main page from 349 to 350. After I undid the change the total went back to 349.

Fun fact: way back in 2004 Dutch Wiktionary struggled with the same problem. The solution used at that time was having a page for each language and turning all headers to language names into links. Later on we did the same with all headers, so nowadays any page has several links. There are probably other ways to solve this problem. As long as all editors agree on adding to each page something that always results in an internal link, you will be fine. Of course it is necessary to add this also to all existing pages. At the time Dutch Wiktionary used a bot to do this, but it can be done manually too.

It looks like Wikshọnarị hasn't developed a strong editor community yet. Bots are very powerful tools to develop a wiktionary, but like all powerful tools, they can be very damaging too. I very much would encourage Wikshọnarị to start using bots, but only after developing a solid user community first.

As far as I can see, at present Wikshọnarị only has pages describing words from the Igbo language in Igbo. For that reason there are no language sections on pages like in other Wiktionaries. But all pages seem to have a section Nkọwa, sometime spelled nkọwa, using both = and == to indicate the level. Even without a bot, this can be standardized manually in probably the same time and changed into a link.

But it would be important to establish that this is acceptable to the community, because new words added should follow the same convention. Is there a way to inform all active users and reach a consensus? MarcoSwart (ṅkátá) 20:52, 16 Novemba 2024 (WAT)

Thank you again @MarcoSwart, we don't have a strong Wiktionary Community as opposed to Wikipedia but we have a general community WhatsApp and Telegram groups where I can communicate this and get their votes.

I'm happy to hear there exists a communications channel. Using WhatsApp and Telegram would be fine: users with more experience on Wikshọnarị may well have valuable comments or advice. As long as the result is a consensus about a standard with at least one wikilink on each page, we can get the counter at the proper value.
