English: Fresh fruits are red and yellow. Compared to boiled fruits on left which turned a golden brown during boiling. Can be eaten uncooked or boiled or in more complex recipes or pressed to extract the yellow oil. Fruits are small, about 3.5 to 4 cm in length. Very little actual fruit pulp over a kernel and very fibrous. Not a sweet fruit or juicy fruit, but has a slightly nutty flavor and is high in calories due to high oil content. Available and popular across the equatorial African region. |
